Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) is an essential vitamin. Vitamin C is an important factor in many of the body's various life-giving and life-maintaining functions including the successful operation of the immune system. Unfortunately, Vitamin C is not naturally produced by our bodies. This means that although it is an essential vitamin, it must be replenished every day in order for good health to be maintained.
Vitamin C also has a host of other general uses. Not only is it great for getting that extra vitamin c, but ascorbic acid can be used in cooking as well. Add to bread, cured meats, jams and jellies to just name a few of many options! Tired of your fruit browning? Rub a little ascorbic acid on it to keep it from browning for longer.
